Azad Samaj Party’s leader and a member of parliament, Chandrashekhar Azad on 8th July claimed that the situation with law and order in Uttar Pradesh has “collapsed” under the ruling party BJP.
The politician talked to reporters as he met Fareed alias Aurangzeb’s family who died from mob lynching and Hathras stampede victims’ bereaved relatives.
He accused police forces in Uttar Pradesh of losing the moral right to serve common people by pointing out mob lynching of Muslim youth two weeks ago in Old city center and followed by Hathras stampede. In these situations, according to him, Police are framing innocents while culprits are moving away untouched,” he alleged.
Chandrashekhar Azad said that when he visited Aligarh on June 27th to meet the bereaved family of a victim who had broken 22 ribs, they told me that all happened while CCTV cameras recorded everything during which the victim was hit till death with steel bars and iron rods.”
He said over six persons were named in FIR but they continue to move around freely as though nothing has been done wrong with them,” Mr. Azad stated.
“The entire family members including some half a dozen more have been booked for dacoity thereby clearly indicating to us how justice is delivered across India,” he added.
Mr. Chandrashekhar Azad also promised that he would raise this issue at Parliament House, New Delhi and Lucknow after meeting Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath regarding it.
Chandrasekhar Azad questioned why self-styled godman Surajpal alias Narayan Sakar Hari alias Bhole Baba was not even mentioned as an accused by name in the first instance; if the police were unable to arrest him themselves?” He blamed innocent persons being arrested for this unfortunate incident instead it resulted from “gross administrative failure”.
No security measures were enforced at Hathras because none exist there for those who are among the poorest of the poor and fall in the lowest rungs of society,” he remarked.
