Late Thursday evening saw the Crew actress take to social media platforms to give her thoughts about various developments in the country but ended with why women don’t feel safe and secure in their own country. “She wrote that “Heavy heart and angry soul ?? Aaj wish karne ka mann nahi kiya (I did not feel like wishing today)..” when she captioned her post explaining why she chose not to send any greetings on this occasion.
The note showed Tiranga (Tricolor of Indian National Flag) as its background and it read, “While we celebrate our 78th year of Independence and feel proud on how far we’ve come as a country globally.. it breaks my heart to see the terrifying reality that women are still not Safe in their own country. And there isn’t even fear anymore from these people who commit such heinous acts. And even today, its the woman being blame for being a victim!!!”
The note also noted that “Unless there is faster justice, severe punishments and more importantly better upbringing, nothing is gonna change. Are we really FREE when our basic safety is in question??”
What does the Kolkata rape and murder case mean?
A medical trainee was claimed to be raped and murdered in the seminar hall of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. The Kolkata police took over the investigation after finding the body in the hall next morning but their probe has not made satisfactory progress.
As a result, the CBI has taken over this case now. In the meantime, doctors of Kolkata have questioned their safety and gone on strike against indifferent attitude of college authorities. In a recent development, these doctors call for a 24-hour strike.
