Netflix’s new Dharma Productions and Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment are now working on a new film for women. The project makers at the moment are considering Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta from Laapataa Ladies to be the main characters.
Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta in talks to lead progressive relationship drama under Dharmatic Entertainment: Report
Plot details and other specifics remain tightly guarded, but Peeping Moon states that it is apparently a progressive relationship comedy with some laughter. This forthcoming project will be directed by Anubhuti Kashyap who recently directed Doctor G starring Ayushmann Khurrana alongside Rakul Preet Singh. Kashyap’s screenplay will be brought to life by Sima Agarwal and Yash Keshwani whose previous works include Anek as well as Khaali Peeli films. Right now, it is at the pre-production phase with filming expected to start between September-October 2024.
This marks another meeting point between Kashyap and Dharma Productions. She got into this production house even before her first-directed movie, Doctor G was screened in cinemas last year 2022. Significantly, she had earlier been involved in a yet-to-be-released romantic comedy featuring Ishaan Khatter and Triptii Dimri which never saw the light of day ultimately under Dharma.
In the meantime, Konkona Sen Sharma will next star in Anurag Basu’s anthology film Metro… In Dino, releasing on November 29. It is also known that she has an upcoming short film named Chashma that was edited by Nitin Baid while there are rumors of her getting into a thriller being produced by Junglee Pictures.
Pratibha Ranta on the other hand has become famous through Laapataa Ladies and has already signed up for the role of a heroine in a love story with Vikrant Massey.
