After impressing audiences in India, Laapataa Ladies is all set to hit Japan. Kiran Rao, the film’s director, has informed through Instagram that the film will this month go on screen to Japan.
On the other hand, the film released in India on Tuesday and Rao shared its clip on social media on Wednesday to declare, “Laapataa Ladies will be found in Japan from October 4, 2024. We are so much looking forward to our theatrical release in Japan, Shochiku, arigato gozaimasu.”
The action takes place in India’s country side and centers on two brides who get lost while they are on a train and one event leads to another with unexpected twists.
Laapataa Ladies is a film where Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao play the protagonists, and the action takes place during its promotion’s presentation at the Supreme Court of India.
At the event, Aamir Khan reveals why he opted to make the film saying that he wished to contribute to society by enabling young people to be discovered. He also spoke about what the pandemic was like for him, recalling that when it was all over he made up his mind to spend the rest of his active years more productively than just acting in movies.
While being interviewed with the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud Aamir Khan commented, “During Pandemic I had a lot of time and kept on contemplating. I thought I might have 15 more working years left for me….uske baad zindagi kisne dekhi hai…. But I also wanted to repay to the people what I have taken from them in these years. The industry, society, and country has so much given me. I thought that if an actor, I could make one film in a year, as a producer I can make many more films. I wish to provide platform for new talents. New writers, directors etc lot of people are waiting to use such platform. I can give those opportunities.”
He continued, “Laapataa Ladies is an initiation of Huma S Qureshi in that sense. Such talents I do wish to harness through this chamber and may be with a hope working on four to five productions a year. Like the rest of the talents, I want to support them.”
Laapataa Ladies, a film promoting gender equality, was screened for the first time at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival and received a standing ovation. It stars Ravi Kishan, Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ratna, and Sparsh Shrivastav in pivotal parts.
