Making a memorable breakout at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, Kiara Advani appeared at the Women in Cinema Gala. She spoke to Film Companion about reuniting with her husband, Sidharth Malhotra, on another project during the occasion. The pair’s previous cooperation on Shershaah movie of 2021 received high appraisals and people have been waiting for them to make up a team again. However, Kiara argued that a future production should be interesting for both of them. “We would love to work together, but it has to excite us equally,” she noted.
Kiara reflected on Shershaah’s success while acknowledging that it was something unique which made the audience think so about their relationships with Sidharth after an interview with Film Companion. “I feel like Shershaah gave us a lot of love as a couple. So, there’s a certain excitement, and people want to see us together,” she said. Despite this, Kiara highlighted their individuality and commitment to their craft as actors. “I think we’re individual people first and actors first, so that’s how we would go about looking for something,” she added.
The couple met while shooting Shershaah where Sidharth portrayed late war hero Vikram Batra while Kiara played his fiance Dimple. Their romance was kept hidden until they got married last February 2023; still there is no denying the impact they had in the film. These are some of Kiara’s thoughtful comments indicating that they share a passion for selecting characters who touch their hearts deeply.
At Cannes’ Women in Cinema Gala—an exclusive event held by Vanity Fair Europe and Red Sea International Film Festival—Kiara was accorded recognition. Aseel Omran from Saudi Arabia (a singer/actress) and Ramata-Toulaye Sy from Senegal (a director/writer) were also amongst the six women celebrated for their efforts in film. For that event, Kiara stunned in a pink and black gown with off-shoulder details; she posted on Instagram, “a night to remember.”
