The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) is now issuing alerts on the developments in pipeline and related works along with their repairs which will cut supply for almost a week, with nearly a week of pre- announcement.
Those provisions were introduced after the last week’s situation where there was no supply of water for five days in the city of Thiruvananthapuram.
Therefore, on Thursday, September 19, 2024, KWA also announced of supply disruption that will take place on the 24th September 2024 in relation to the new supply lines being charged along the Althara-Mettukada route. He also expected that some old branch lines will be joined with the new supply lines during the course.
But after about a month and half, following the days supply disruption in over 40 wards of the city after completing over two weeks of a delayed pipeline realignment task, Water Resources Minister Roshy Augustine ordered, the Kerala Water Authority to amend its SoP’s provisions regarding constructive operations requiring supply cut.
It is hereby confirmed that, the public, the local bodies, and the district administration consider informing all the concerned back in time about such or similar intended works. If these planned works increase the public’s risk, or suggest a temporary suspension of supplies, the public must be notified at least one week in advance via SMS. This was as per the decision taken after the September 12 meeting.
