Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Wednesday visited the Rama temple in Ayodhya. The Kerala Raj Bhawan released a video of Khan prostrating himself at the temple, where he can be seen bowing before the deity while the chants of “Jai Shree Ram” echo in the background.
Later, while talking to reporters, the Governor said that he visited Ayodhya twice in January and it was his pride to worship Lord Ram.
“I came to Ayodhya twice in January. The feeling then is the same even today. I have been to Ayodhya many times. For us, coming to Ayodhya and worshiping Shriram is not just It is a question of happiness, on the contrary, it is a question of pride.
Khan, who has often made headlines for his clashes with the Kerala government, said last week that imbibing Vedic education in our actions is the best way to spread it, adding that the world would learn from it.
Khan claimed that “all our constitutional ideals are rooted in our traditions,” but “we believe these come from the West because we know very little about our culture and traditions.”
The governor said our ethos is not “tolerance” but acceptance and respect.
Last year, he quoted reformist educationist and founder of Aligarh Muslim University Sir Syed Ahmed Khan as saying “you must call me a Hindu”.
