As part of its plans to make travel comfortable within the state, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is planning to add 40 premium super-fast buses. This was announced by Transport Minister K.B. Ganesh Kumar while addressing the Kerala Assembly on July 5. Before Onam, ten of these buses are expected to be on the roads.
In addition, the Minister said that many of the buses currently plying in rural routes are old and have less mileage. Also, a trial run has been completed for new mini buses.
Mr Ganesh Kumar informed the House that with daytime temperatures being very high over recent years in Kerala, it has become imperative to have more such AC buses for long distance travel especially for tourists coming into the state. The premium super-fasts will have pushback seats, WiFi and other facilities too.
Moreover, rural areas will get 300 minis as part of KSRTC’s fleet.
