All allegations against N.S. Sunil, the first accused in the sensational Kerala actor rape case, were rendered ineffective on Friday (September 20, 2023) when Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court granted bail to the actor in the case.
The court ordered Mr. Sunil otherwise known as “Pulsar” Suni to deposit a sum of ₹1 lakh and also two sureties.
The accused was further told not to talk, threaten or otherwise harass the victim, any of the prosecution witnesses or the other accused(s) of the case. The court also placed an interdiction on him from using the mass media on matters relating to the case.
Bail conditions
The accused has undertaken to provide a number to the court and vows that while out on bail he will not have more than one functional SIM card. Every periodic report on the remand and activities of the accused under bail must be presented by the District Probation Officer. He shall not wander from the jurisdiction of the Ernakulam district and sessions court without the prior order of the court respecting the bail conditions imposed by the court.
On 22nd July, Mr. Sunil was brought to court in the morning police after the Supreme court ordered that he be granted bail as he was incarcerated for over 7 years and its likely that trail court proceedings might take some time.
Additionally, Special Public Prosecutor V. Ajakumar suggested that moderate restrictions should be made when granting bail. In this respect, he even asked the court to impose a condition that the accused will not in any way harass or bother the victim.
