Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has said Telangana Government will invite Opposition leader K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar to attend Praja Palana – Praja Vijayotsavalu celebrations, including inauguration of Telangana Talli statue, marking completion of one year of Congress government.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and protocol officers will call on these leaders personally and extend invitation to attend the celebrations. “We don’t stand on prestige. They should come and join the celebrations,” he said. The Chief Minister advised the Bharat Rashtra Samiti leaders not to obstruct the welfare and developmental programmes launched by the Congress government and instead give constructive suggestions so that the schemes can be implemented more effectively.
BRS should give constructive suggestions to govt: CM
“Give us (the government) some time. We had to put up with Model Code of Conduct in the first six months due to Lok Sabha elections-2024 and it is only six months since we started full functioning,” he said. The Government was trying to rectify the lapses committed by the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government “one by one” and the BRS, being the main opposition, should give constructive suggestions to the Government in the interests of the people.
He recalled how late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR) used to give constructive suggestions as Opposition leader in the government headed by former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in the united Andhra Pradesh and how the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president reciprocated after YSR took over the reins. “There were good traditions irrespective of ideological differences. But these were set aside during the 10 years when K. Chandrasekhar Rao was at the helm of affairs,” he recalled.
KCR should corner govt if there are any lapses
Mr. Revanth Reddy criticised the BRS president for not attending the Assembly proceedings despite being the opposition leader. “Why is he (Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao) not coming to the assembly. He should attend the session and corner the government if there are any lapses in the implementation of policies. Given his experience, he can come up with specific suggestions on the schemes,” he said.
He said it was not proper on the part of the opposition to create obstacles in the implementation of the schemes. Mr. Rao should guide his party leaders to study the government policies and analyse them. He was instead provoking his two family members against the government. “He (Mr. KCR) should counsel BRS leaders K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao against their `mischievous deeds’.”
He alleged that KTR and Mr. Harish Rao were trying to derive “sadistic pleasure” by creating hurdles in the implementation of government schemes, but Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao was not trying to counsel them despite being a senior leader. He said that such a behaviour did not behove the stature of KCR who claimed himself to be a senior politician with vast experience.
“People have given their verdict in favour of the Congress for five years whether you like it or not. Even Nizam had to bow down to the popular resistance of the people and merge the State into Indian Union,” he said.
