On Friday July 5, 2024, at least three people’s home believed to be linked with M.R. Vijayabhaskar former AIADMK Transport Minister were simultaneously searched by the Crime Branch CID in Karur district.
The complaint made by the Sub Registrar (in charge) Mohamed Abdul Kadhar at the Karur Town police station had resulted in a series of investigations that led to this search being done as part of an investigation into land grabbing. The case was later transferred to the CB-CID office. In respect of this land grab case, seven persons have been accused.
Karur’s district police ensured security for these CB-CID men from about six forty-five am when their exercise began.
One team went to the house of S. Selvaraj at Thottakurichi under Velayuthampalayam Police Station limit. He is also Deputy Secretary of Punjai Thottakurichi Perur Unit of AIADMK. An inspector from CB-CID led the search that lasted for little more than three hours.
One more team searched K.Eswaramurthy’s residence for almost three hours in Kaundanpudhur. Police said they executed this exercise where Gomathi; Eswarammurthy’s wife was present since he himself was absent during that time.
Another party conducted a search on Yuvaraj’s house located Manalmedu Thalapatti area close to Karur town. Yuvaraj works at a petrol pump believed to be owned by Mr.M.R.Vijaybhaskar.
In June, Mr. Vijayabhaskar had filed an anticipatory bail plea earlier which was dismissed by the District and Sessions Court and even after his appeal for interim relief refused by court. The next hearing on Mr. Vijaybhaskar’s plea for anticipating bail for the second time is fixed in the court on July 5. There is no information regarding M.R.Vijayabhaskar’s whereabouts as of now.
