A unique approach to ticket pricing has been take by Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming film Chandu Champion. Which opts for a Rs. 150 ticket scheme across theatres in India on June 14. This has bee seen as a welcome change in an era of rising movie ticket prices, and has received positive responses from fans and industry insiders.
Generally, the price of tickets for mainstream Hindi films have been steadily rising, sometimes even exceeding Rs. 200-400 in major cities. This is a barrier to many moviegoers, especially those living in small towns and cities. The emphasis on affordability by the Chandu Champion team is a refreshing move that might make it more popular among people who had not planned to watch movies at Indian cinemas any time soon if ever. Though they may want to pack this demographic cinema-goers through giving them an opportunity to buy their way into their house.
Also, this audience-friendly move could create enough word-of-mouth recommendations. With more audiences coming into the theatre due to lower pricing of tickets. It can create some buzz around the movie showing how good it actually is for people who have already watched it. Therefore these positive vibes could translate into higher sale figures later though the initial consumption might be driven by low cost per seat.
The film will release widely around the world at once. For example, countries like Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Georgia are first timers for any Kartik Aaryan film being show there. There will be more than 1300 screens across 1000+ locations spanning over 70 + countries. The most significant aspect however is that this is going to be his biggest overseas release yet while also hitting maximum number of countries according him. His career’s largest number of countries including Europe widest amount of screens.
It will be released on June 14, 2024, Chandu Champion is directed by Kabir Khan with joint production from Sajid Nadiadwala and Kabir Khan.
