Gurgaon: Haryana BJP spokesperson, Suraj Pal Amu, who is the Karni Sena Chief too resigned from the party on Thursday citing dissatisfaction with candidate selection for Gujarat polls. Ammu had attracted controversy during his 2018 remarks against “Padmavat” film and hence has tendered his resignation to JP Nadda who is the President of BJP.
According to him, this was an insult to entire Kshatriya community that a party ticket in Gujarat went to a person who made “indecent comments” about women.
This was ostensibly Parshottam Rupala, the Union minister andBJP candidate from Rajkot Lok Sabha constituency who said that former maharajas were sold out by foreign ruling dynasties including British rulers who persecuted them and even gave their daughters away.
He tried resigning from Bharatiya Janata Party in 2018 but the resignation was declined as he remained one of its leading members
Ammu has had long association with BJP. He also served as Bharatiya Janata Party’s divisional president of Yuva Morcha-Sohna during 1990-91. During 1993 – 1996, he served as district general secretary of BJP Yuva Morcha. Since 2018, he has been a national spokesperson for Bharatiya Janata Party.
