Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot of Karnataka state has been given a bullet proof, armed vehicle by the State Government, this was in response to his security matters.
“There have been recent threats and inflammatory remarks made against him which led to the governor’s office requesting for an armored car for the governor. As provided under law, the governor is entitled to a bullet proof vehicle but Mr. Gehlot had never used it until now that he has demanded,” said a senior police officer quoted by The Hindu.
This comes after ruling Congress recently embarked on protests against Governor’s approval for prosecuting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in relation to MUDA (Mysore Urban Development Authority) scam.
During one of these protests, Ivan D’Souza who is a Congressman and also a Member of Legislative Council threatened to stage Bangladesh-like agitation as means forcing Governor out from his chair. Recently Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Karnataka unit approached Alok Mohan who serves as Karnataka state police chief complaining about ministers Krishna Byre Gowda and BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan and also Ivan D’Souza whom they accused for insulting or threatening the Governor.
