MLC A.H. Vishwanath asked Chief Minister Siddaramiah to quit after the High Court of Karnataka dismissed Mr. Vishwanath’s petition quarrying the Governor’s approval to prosecute him regarding the allegations of site allotment scam of Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to his wife.
Mr. Vishwanath stated that the development has marred Mr. Siddaramaiah’s otherwise clean political record built over half a century. He blamed it on what he referred to as the ‘coterie’ around the Chief Minister giving poor advice.
“Mr. Siddaramaiah’s clean political record has not only been stained and what is worse this development has dragged the State down among the others who have otherwise been blameless since K C Reddy, the State’s first Chief Minister,” said Mr. Vishwanath again.
The MLC further said Mr. Siddaramaiah became Chief Minister 2 times because of the struggle and wishes of Kurubas, AHINDAs and Dalits. “All those people were dissatisfied with the recent manners and Mo’s of functioning of Siddaramaiah which was apologetic and arrogant. They all were let down,” Mr. Vishwanath said.
The High Court ruling has also acted as guidance to the authority and elected leaders that no their wishes and fancies will make them operate anyhow, observed the MLC.
“When the MUDA scam came to the forefront, I had advised Mr. Siddaramaiah to give up the sites and request an inquiry. But he disregarded the advice and sought to protect the people who are around him. In that process, he has tarnished his own record and image,” Mr. Vishwanath said further.
Taking note of the MLC, Mr. Siddaramaiah is not to go to the Supreme Court with an appeal against the High Court order. He took a position on it that all it will do is bring more shame and will not serve any purpose.
