Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had a meeting with senior officials on July 8 to review progress in the State of various welfare schemes and development projects ahead of the monsoon session of the Karnataka legislature scheduled to commence next week (July 15).
He lectured that if Assistant Commissioners acted as kings, there will be no progress. He requested both officials and politicians to always remember that they are servants of people.
Speaking at a meeting of Deputy Commissioners, Chief Executive Officers, and in-charge secretaries in Bengaluru, he said Deputy Commissioners, Superintendent of Police, and Chief Executive Officers should be proactive and coordinate so as to enable effective implementation of government programs and policies to common people. “Only then can the government’s goal of addressing the concerns of the people be achieved,” he said.
“Work for dengue control on a war footing,” directed DCs along with District Health Officers while referring them to hold regular meetings with taluk-level officials.
Some junior officers have already been taken to task for their indifference, negligence or dereliction since this is one area where action has been taken against lower-level officials. But henceforth warned against by the Chief Minister; he will also hold senior officers responsible for any lapses made in future and take action against them.
The Chief Minister observed that SSLC results have declined in some districts. He congratulated those who helped prevent copying during exams.” However, he disagreed with the idea that reducing malpractice has led to poor performance.
He insisted on timely verification of caste certificates. “Appropriate orders should be issued without delay, Mr. Siddaramaiah said pointing out the future of candidates would be ruined if such documents are not issued on time.
On priority basis he asked officials to take up energisation pump sets pending under Ganga Kalyan scheme.
