ARY News on Friday reported that Karachi was experiencing a fuel crisis amid the ongoing strike of Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association as there is no supply of petroleum products.
According to details, after a request by PPDA all petrol pumps in Karachi and entire Pakistan were shut at 6 AM this morning.
Sources say that from Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and other oil marketing companies, petroleum products are still being supplied through Pakistani ports.
The Oil Tanker Owners Association has meanwhile dissociated itself from the demand for petrol merchants walkout. According to Shams Shahwani, President of the Oil Tanker Owners Association, “Fuel is provided to power plants, airports, and railroads.”
The country’s oil corporation, Pakistan State Oil (PSO), announced yesterday that it would ensure availability of petroleum products throughout the country just as people in Karachi are suffering fuel shortage.
Now however demands are not met
Despite the strike action, PSO stated that its supply chain was fully functional and petrol stations had enough stocks.
“Continuous supply of petrol at pumps is being ensured,” maintained PSO spokespersons.
In line with an ARY News report – “PSO is always ready to serve the people,” said PSO spokespersons while reiterating their commitment to serve the public.
On Friday during its nationwide protest, All-Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association blocked any negotiations between government delegation and APPLA.
Government had discussions with founding members of APPLA but reports have come out citing that there remains deadlock between them.
