On June 22, a well-known writer Kamala Hampana passed away.
Kamala Hampana, a leading lady author in Kannada, aged 89 years passed away on June 22 at her residence in Rajajinagar due to age related illnesses.
Her spouse Hampa Nagarajaiah, who is also a writer and two daughters and a son survive her.
Kamala Hampana was born on October 28, 1935 in Devanahalli. Apart from being a writer, she was an academician, researcher and teacher. She has written more than sixty books in Kannada on different subjects and two books Attimabbe and Chalukyas and Jainism and Other Essays published in English during her six decades of literary journey.
She even brought out nine other research works like Thuranga Bharata – Ondu Addhyayana as well as Adharsha Jaina Mahileyaru.
Additionally, her works earned her the Dana Chintamani Attimabbe award while Hampi University awarded her with the Nadoja ward.
According to Ms. Kamala’s wish will be donated by body to M.S. Ramaiah Hospital for Medical Research.
Many political leaders including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah went onto X to pay their respects for Ms. Hampana. “I am saddened by the sudden death of veteran writer Dr.Kamala Hampanna. Dr.Kamala apart from literature had researched extensively and taught many students.She always wished others well.I also share the sorrow of Dr.Hampa Nagarajaih & his family”, he said.
