An Explosive Glimpse into a Black Period of Indian History
Emergency is set for global theatrical release on September 6 and vows to capture one of India’s most controversial periods in history. The story line of the movie focuses on Emergency years between 1975-1977 when civil rights were restricted and political opposition was quashed under then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. In addition to being its lead actor, Kangana Ranaut also directs and produces it thus playing Indira Gandhi.

However, worth noting here is that as reported by Parami News few days earlier, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) cleared a U/A certificate for the film’s 2 minutes and 57 seconds length trailer. The same studio behind Emergency, Zee Studios that also produced Vedaa will have it linked with all print copies going forward.
According to our source: ‘Emergency is produced by Zee Studios and they have also backed Vedaa. A lot of people will be watching Vedaa hence Zee team felt like this would be an excellent time for them to show their much ambitious venture trailer to them thereby creating more excitement around it.’
Ranaut is at the helm of a talented ensemble cast that includes Kher in Jayaprakash Narayan role, Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee Shreyas Talpade; Chaudhary who will play Pupul Jayakar’s character; Milind Soman who has been cast as Sam Manekshaw and the late Satish Kaushik who played Jagjivan Ram.
