The month of April and May have been a bit dry for the film industry as very few films managed to grab the attention of moviegoers. However, from the end of May, there will be a blast in movies season. There is going to be an interesting clash between Akshay Kumar, Kamal Haasan and Scarlett Johansson at box office in July.
Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 to CLASH with Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira and John Abraham’s Vedaa.
Yesterday, it was announced that Indian 2, one of the most-anticipated movies would hit screens on July 12. On top of this date, the producers also released another fabulous poster for Kamal Haasan’s latest movie and they said first single would be out by May 22.
Indian 2 will be a multiple language release. In addition to Kamal Haasan some other actors are S J Suryah, Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth and Rakul Preet Singh and directed by Shankar. First part was released in Hindi as Hindustani. Sequel has been titled Hindustani 2 taking cue from this one – it is scored by Anirudh Ravichander.
On July 12th when Indian 2 releases, it will compete with Sarfira starring Akshay Kumar along with Radhika Madan. The Tamil original came out last year but caught attention worldwide; now it has been remade as Soorarai Pottru (2020). Just like its prequel film, Sarfira too has Sudha Kongara directing it. It is based on G R Gopinath who founded Air Deccan which made air travel affordable even for common people: Paresh Rawal also plays a key role in this picture.
Vedaa featuring John Abraham and Sharvari is also scheduled to hit theatres on July 12. Nikkhil Advani directs it and its teaser cut stylishly has already become popular. It is produced by Zee Studios.
The other important Hollywood release this year, Fly Me To The Moon will also be released on July 12th. Sony Pictures will distribute the movie and their India unit recently announced that it would be released in theaters across the country on the second Friday of July, like everywhere else in the world. Sitting with Sony’s new Hollywood release, The Garfield Movie is an enjoyable trailer to this effect.
Fly Me To The Moon stars Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum in lead roles and is set in the 1960s NASA when America was making efforts to send astronauts to moon. Due to its subject matter and casting choice of Scarlett Johansson who enjoys great popularity in India, the film has a fair chance of attracting many viewers.
Now we shall see if this four way clash takes place, and how screens are shared between distributors of Indian 2, Sarfira, Vedaa and Fly Me To The Moon.
