June 27, a Thursday, is anxiously awaited by the industry and fans alike. Which is when Kalki 2898 AD gets to cinemas. The film will be release in multiple languages and it will also have a release in different formats such as 2D, 3D and IMAX among others. Nevertheless, movie makers have abruptly decided to stop the booking of the film’s IMAX version.
Movie distributors of Kalki 2898 AD pause booking for IMAX
A Bollywood Hungama source averred, “This information reached us on the morning of Monday (24th June) that had asked exhibitors not to open IMAX bookings for ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. So we stopped immediately and even advised those. Who were yet to begin ticket sales on their IMAX screens not to commence.”
Just like this source told me earlier today: “Some multiplexes also got a directive that Kalki 2898 AD will not release in the IMAX version, giving speculation that the IMAX release is cancelle. It’s been more than six hours and we hope the makers give clarity on this aspect as there’s a demand for this film’s IMAX version. The audience needs to know what’s happening.”
Kalki 2898 AD comprises cast members Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani. While Nag Ashwin directed it with C Aswani Dutt from Vyjayanthi Movies as producer. Sales started yesterday amid positive response. The futuristic entertainer will be out in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
They have gone all out for promotions. In an unprecedented move last month they came up with an animated prelude called B&B. Bujji And Bhairava which premiered on Amazon Prime Video. This thirty-minute series helped viewers understand about Kalki 2898 AD world.
Recently, the grand event of Kalki 2898 AD was held in Mumbai. Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan all came together to grace the occasion. Bollywood Hungama had recently reported that ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is the longest ever Prabhas film with a runtime of 180 minutes.”
