Kalki 2898 AD is a film that has made its audiences go crazy about its VFX and distinctive take on Indian mythology, but it is being served with a legal notice. A legal notice has been sent by Hindu activist Acharya Pramod Krishnan through his lawyer. And Supreme Court advocate Ujjawal Anand to the makers of the sci-fi entertainer. According to him, this film is not accurate and it offends Hindus.
Acharya Pramod Krishnan’s complaint carried in an ANI report was against the content being portrayed in the movie which he claimed was ‘blatantly disrespectful to Hindu scriptures’. Additionally, he charged that the movie’s story will ‘tarnish the mythology’ and ‘mislead devout Hindus’. It said also that “India is a land of emotions, faith, and devotion. The values of Sanatana Dharma should not be tampered with. The scriptures of Sanatana should not be altered. Lord Kalki Narayan is at the center of our faith who is considered as the final incarnation of Lord Vishnu who must be.” “The ministry told us yesterday that much has been written about Kalki’s incarnation in Puranas. Based on this PM Modi laid down the foundation stone for Shri Kalki Dham on February 19,” he said.
“What our scriptures describe are completely against what this film portrays,” He added. “Our religious sentiments are hurt by this film.” We have recorded some objections therefore we are waiting for a reply to be received in connection therewith. For filmmakers today playing with people’s religious sentiments had become their favorite past time. Saints are shown as demons. However freedom of expression does not mean playing with our faith” he added too.
Kalki 2898 AD is also a science fiction picture inspired by an ancient prophecy in Indian Mythology which talks about return of Lord Vishnu as Kalki. And saving his devotees from the atrocities in the unjust ‘Kalyug’ (the era of Kalyug). Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani and an ensemble supporting cast play lead roles in this movie directed by Nag Ashwin. The movie hit theaters on 27th June to positive reviews and was released in multiple south languages Hindi.
