Although the film did not become a hit as expected, its music received so much love. Now, almost five years later, one of the kathak-dance tracks of the movie ‘Ghar More Pardesiya’ is being acknowledged by The Academy’s prestigious social media handle. This song is picturized on Alia Bhatt who plays the lead role in this movie.

Sung by Shreya Ghoshal and performed with so much affection by Roop aka Alia Bhatt to her mentor Bahaar Begum (Madhuri Dixit), this particular song titled ‘Ghar More Pardesiya’ touched many people including those beyond India. On May 23, The Academy’s certified Instagram page featured a snippet of this video saying “Alia Bhatt is performing “Ghar More Pardesiya”(vocals by Shreya Ghoshal with Vaishali Mhade) from the film ‘Kalank.’” Pritam Chakraborty composed it while Amitabh Bhattacharya wrote its lyrics.
Many other social media users were pleased with this post and they even went ahead to shower praises for Shreya Ghoshal too. For instance some comments flowing through included; “Shreya Ghoshal can’t stop me loving your voice anymore”, “the queen shreys”, etc., following suit after Deewani Mastani now Ghar More Pardessi getting recognised; bow down to The Queen Sherya Ghoshal”. Some others also praised how well Alia Bhatt danced.
Kalank directed by Abhishek Varman had Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha as its main characters.
