K Keshava Rao, a senior politician and recent member of the Congress from Bharat Rashtra Samiti has been appointed as the Advisor to the Telangana Government (Public Affairs) with Cabinet status. He had joined the party in 2004.
In this regard orders were issued on Saturday. Mr. Keshava Rao became a Congress member recently after ten years when he was at BRS. The ex-president of Andhra Pradesh Congress committee left for BRS recently. Also, he resigned from Rajya Sabha which he got through BSR membership.
Mr Keshava Rao once served as a Minister in Congress governments but defected from it during the climax times of Telangana movement to join (the then TRS) BRS. He was also made Secretary General by that party hence twice nominated him for Rajya Sabha.
After the congress came into power in Telangana in December-2023, he decided to join back the congress saying that he was desperate to come back to his parent party. His daughter Gadwal Vijayalakshmi who is also Mayor of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) joined him there too. She was elected as mayor from BRS. However his son Viplav remains with the BRS till date.
