In his latest episode of Joe Rogan Experience, the mega podcaster spoke about Brian Thompson’s suspected killer Luigi Mangione and slammed the health insurance industry. Rogan said Luigi Mangione was probably a guy who got f**ked over and UnitedHealthcare apparently has a really bad reputation for paying out claims. Rogan was speaking with filmmaker Quentin Tarantino and producer Roger Avary in an episode which was recorded before Luigi Mangione was arrested in connection with the murder of the CEO that triggered a major debate over the healthcare industry as many prominent personalities including journalist Taylor Lorenz celebrated the death.
Rogan did not actually support the murder but said that the healthcare industry is ‘f**king gross’ and a dirty business. “It’s a dirty, dirty business. The business of insurance is f**king gross. It’s gross. Especially healthcare insurance. It’s f**king gross.”
“I don’t think anybody is, like, going to be crying too hard over [Thompson],” Avary said.
“Maybe his family, but that’s about it,” Rogan replied.
26-year-old Luigi Mangione was arrested in Pennsylvania in connection with the brazen murder which he executed driven by his hatred towards the healthcare industry. Police found a handwritten note from the possession of the IVY League grad whose upbringing and background do not match with the crime but investigators said Luigi saw himself as a hero.
Interrogation in the case is yet to start as Luigi is fighting his extradition from Pennsylvania to New York City and the police are still in the dark as to whether Mangione had any specific reason to kill Brian Thompson or if there were other targets too. According to Mangion’s friends, he suffered a life-altering health problem because of a spine injury which sometimes incapacitated him. It’s not yet known whether this injury and its treatment had anything to do with UnitedHealthcare.
