The recent report released by Japan’s ministry of internal affairs and communications claims that Japan’s elderly population switched to a new higher level after reaching 36.25 million people with 29.3 percent of the total population over 65 years of age.
The fixed-age report maintenance shows that there are almost 20.53 million females aged 65 or more that accounts for 32.3% of the total population of women in that country. On the contrary, there are many less elderly men in the country – about 15.72 million senior citizen men which is 26.1% of the total male population.
Japan is the most aged country in terms of proportion of elderly people with a population of more than 100000 among the 200 countries and regions. Few Countries in South European regions like Italy, Portugal, Greece, and Finland Germany, Croatia made it to the 10 as well with more than 20% figures. As it appears, the proportion of old age population in South Korea is 19.3%. While for China it remains at 14.7%.
As the government spends more and more on medical care and social services for the elderly whose proportion is increasing, there are fewer workers to pay for what is being spent. The latest such previous statistics per Japan government shows that country’s total population decreased by -595,000 composing 124 million heads of people.
The information published on Sunday also showed that a record number of 9.14 million retired adults were employed in 2023 which is 13.5% of the country’s total labor force as one out of seven active employees. Normally, steps have been taken by the Japanese authorities to slow down their population shrink and aging, however, up to now no real results have been observed.
