High waves hit a coastal area in Ibusuki, Kagoshima Prefecture, western Japan, Wednesday (August 28, 2024), as a typhoon is closing in. The people living there have to fight in Airports and power fails.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency on August 28, 2024, “Typhoon Shanshan was lying right now about 120 kilometers (75 miles) south of Yakushima southern island and storm headed north towards Kyushu, with about 180 kilometers (112 miles) per hour of wind inside the storm.”
The estimate puts the typhoon reaching southern Kyushu and even landfall done on Thursday to reach the 29th of August with the Tobishima Straight agency indications.
