When it comes to OTT platforms, they are known for having captivating stories and character-driven narratives. But no one can say that these online streaming services have ever been about big dance numbers. However, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, which is an extravagant period drama might just be the first to establish this as a trend. At the forefront of digital dance floors is Jacqueline Fernandez.
As per Mid-day report, Jacqueline Fernandez is set to set the screen on fire with a colourful dance sequence in her soon-to-be-released web series aptly titled Goat. It is also reported that she will perform before an ensemble of two hundred background dancers thus making way for it possibly being India’s biggest-ever digital dancing act.
The thriller has been directed by Abhishek Sharma and features Neil Nitin Mukesh and Siddharth Nigam in key roles. Still there are very little details about its plot but given the magnitude of its dancing scene we can safely deduce that it carries some weight in terms of narrative importance.
According to sources close to the production house, over two days at Shiloh Bar in Andheri Jacqueline Fernandez was said to have filmed this elaborate number. She prepared herself for this high-energy routine over two weeks involving a rigorous workout schedule supervised by choreographer Ruel Varindani. Varindani has apparently created an eye-catching piece combining contemporary and hip-hop moves. The filming location itself required a grand set-up, and the area was cordoned off to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted shoot.
While it may sound like an anomaly in OTT shows which tend towards character-driven narratives, insiders suggest that this particular sequence forms part of the story’s development cycle. A source explained further saying that “It serves as a turning point in the story, bringing the central characters’ journeys to an interesting juncture.”
