Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader P.K. Kunhalikutty has said that a judicial probe should be conducted in order to investigate the allegation that some bar owners were approached to raise money for manipulating the liquor policy of the Left Democratic Front government in the State.
He told reporters here on May 25 (Sunday) that something looked fishy about the whole affair, which he stressed was not just a small matter. “There might be some fire because there is some smoke. That is why the United Democratic Front pointed out that a police investigation would not do and an independent judicial probe should be ordered into it. We shall see,” he said.
When asked about alleged cracks within Samastha Kerala Jem-iyyathul Ulama, a forum of Sunni scholars, and reports of differences between IUML and this organization, Mr. Kunhalikutty stated that his party would not interfere with Samastha’s internal issues. The IUML will also address its issues with the Samastha, he added. The IUML leader noted that they are going to start demonstrating against lack of Plus One seats in Malabar region soon.
Meanwhile, there will be a social harmony meet organized by IUML State president Panakkad Syed Sadikali Shihab Thangal at Raviz Kadavu resort at 3 p.m on May 27th.According to A Reverend Reddy, Telangana Chief Minister who is expected as chief guest
