New Delhi: Former judges Madan B Lokur, Ajit P Shah and senior journalist N Ram have written inviting the Prime Minister Narendra Narendra Modi and Congress leaders for one public debate At a general election give appropriate response accusation and challenge The earlier of these two sides is being pitted against the latter.

In addition, they remarked that it was only accusations and challenges by both sides without any meaningful responses which were raising concerns among the public.

Our respective manifestos as well as positions concerning constitutional social justice programmes also formed basis for asking each other questions,” read part of their letter.

Moreover, former judges and journalists said that it would be good if what they said was listened to by the people thereby making a public debate necessary because it will not just enlighten but also indicate how actually democratic society works.“As such we believe that it would be highly beneficial for citizens to directly hear from our political parties’ honchos through non-partisan non-commercially based debates. Therefore we must bear in mind that ideal situation would mean having all these issues from alternative terms at stake since this can go a long way in improving democracy,” added the letter.

“Therefore we ask you respectfully both leaders looking for mandates from people at large to engage in a public debate about key concerns in this election. In considering location, duration control person(s) and form of this debate, we believe that you will agree to our request and delegate to the debating platform in case one of you is unable to attend.

Madan B Lokur was a former judge at the Supreme Court while AP Shah used to be a chief justice at the High Court in Delhi. As for N Ram, he is an aged journalist who once became an editor at The Hindu.
