JERUSALEM: Israel’s foreign ministry has warned that its relations with Ireland, Norway and Spain will be severely affected because these three countries have resolved to recognize Palestine from next week.
Jacob Blitstein, a senior official of the ministry, was quoted saying “there are serious consequences associated with the decision they made.
Blitstein spoke while meeting with envoys from the three nations he wished to “rebuke” for their governments’ pronouncements on Wednesday.
At the meeting Israeli authorities showed proof video of five female soldiers who were abducted in an attack by Hamas on October 7th to those representing the three states.
A video clip lasting three minutes and released yesterday also showed women sitting down with blood on their faces among others who had been tied up immediately after being captured in a Hamas arranged abduction at Nahal Oz base Southern Israel.
The footage was taken from a two-hour video filmed on a body camera by Hamas militants during the attack, campaign group Hostage and Missing Families Forum said in a statement accompanying the clip.
According to this release, Blitstein “reprimanded the Ambassadors for their governments’ perverse decision to recognize Palestinian statehood.”
He opined that this will make it harder for negotiations to release hostages being held by Palestinian militants in Gaza.
This follows recent announcements by these countries as well as others such as Germany and Sweden that they would recognize Palestine hence putting pressure on Israel.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who has visited several countries…has said that it is aimed at giving momentum…to revive…”
Israel reacted angrily by recalling its ambassadors from these three states immediately.
“The intention of several European countries to recognise a Palestinian state is a reward for terror,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said yesterday adding if it happens there will be created another country called Palestine there will be one more terrorist-state.
