The CEO of Infosys, Salil Parekh reportedly said that the company will support the Karnataka State Government and comply to state’s decisions with regard to reservations for local employees as highlighted in a news report by Parami News.
“We intend to go by all the rules of the state government and central. Am thinking we do what is stipulated. We wait until they come out as time passes but we always make sure we are synchronised with new laws and regulations,” according to outlet.
According to the Karnataka State Employment of Local Candidates in Industries, Factories and Other Establishments Bill, 2024, there would be a 50% reservation for managerial positions while non-managerial ones would have a 70% reservation specifically for people who are domiciled within South India.
A tech community based in karnataka which consists primarily migrants from other states working in or around “silicon valley” were left shocked and angry.

Sameer Nigam, who is PhonePe CEO & Founder criticized this bill for its effect on army families like his own and children whose parents shifted between states.

National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) trade association also issued a strong statement against the Karnataka government on start-ups, global investments, IT talent search saying it will damage this space according to Parami News reports from Bengaluru.
