LONDON: Indian-UK women in the UK wore traditional garb and staged their demonstration in front of the UK Parliament on Saturday. They were expressing their cultural pride and also sharing the interests of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during general elections.
These ladies from differing diasporas from different places like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar and Odisha were taking part in India’s ongoing exultation of democracy in a manner which was peculiar to each group
Indian women echoed slogans such as “Ab ki baar 400 paar” and “Har Har Modi Ghar Ghar Modi” in Parliament Square with flagging hands for BJP.
The spirited show of support by these women epitomized their pride as a nation that is progressing well and wants it to continue under PM Modi’s leadership and his party.
The Overseas Friends of BJP UK (OFBJPUK) said this in a statement on Sunday that PM Modi has uplifted India on global stature which has brought immense pride to Indians.
There was also an evident sense of pride when some participating women spoke passionately in local dialects urging their people back home to stand behind BJP come 2024 electoral period.
Their conviction is that they can change the course India takes.
One momentous moment during the event was a rendition of a touching poem called “Saudhand Mujhe Iss Mitti Ki” done by an individual from Mr. Modi’s constituency i.e., Varanasi region
Similarly one Tamil lady spoke about Sri Lanka’s Neighbourhood First Policy under its current government which she stated had played a key role towards its recovery from economic meltdown due to financial crisis according to the release
Further, they emphasized PM Modi’s vision for a developed India by 2047 noting that gender equity is one fundamental tenet for this vision.
