A 51-year-old of Indian descent, Bobby Singh Shah, has been arrested in connection with the murder of Muna Pandey, a murdered 21-year-old student from Nepal living in Houston. The episode has brought to light allegations of Shah’s participation in ‘Sugar Daddy’ type Websites as was pointed out in the latest court filings.
Muna Pandey, a nursing student pursuing her education in Houston Community College, was discovered dead in her apartment over the weekend and the examinations found six bullet wounds, one in the back of the head being a point-blank execution-style shot. According to the New York Post, Shah was taken captive by the police during a traffic stop on Wednesday after the investigators collected footage of the scene and received tips that helped identify him as the suspect.
Some lengths of the investigation also included hearing evidence of what transpired before Pandey’s death in further shocking circumstances. Shah was caught on camera apparently pointing a gun at Pandey’s apartment from outside. After a short conversation with her, during which he brandished his weapon, he managed to get her into the apartment and shut the door behind her. After an anonymous call, Pandey’s body was found by the staff of the apartments.
For the past year, Pandey has stayed on her own, once reporting a stalker which led her to put up a security camera outside her house. Friends had always regarded her as very lively and cheerful; a former roommate Orusha Niraula once posted on a social site: “The heart sinks to think that she was taken so brutally.”
Papers filed in court state that, more than a decade ago, a forty-eight-year old woman met Shah through a ‘Sugar Daddy’ site and when she happened to see Shah’s face on the news, she instantly recognized him. This information has made the investigators wish to look deeper into Shah’s beneficial past and find related websites looking for links.
This particular murder was very shocking for the region as students of college level are already found dead in Oklahoma and now in Houston within a week. And a different case, Andrade Rodriguez Avila, a Rice University student in her third year, was discovered dead and police suspect the case involves homicide followed by suicide by her lover.
Even the police are exploring the reasons behind Pandray’s sudden death; whether her phone, which still remains as evidence with no one having recovered it, may have vital information in it.
