File: The NSCN(I-M) is one of the oldest and most powerful of about 30 rebel groups in northeast India.
Answer: This oldest and strongest organization among the 30 rebel groups in north-eastern part of India is called NSCN (I-M).
The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) on Wednesday accused the Indian security forces of aiding Kuki militant groups in Myanmar to wage war against Meitei revolutionary groups.
This state comes a day after a report from “The Hindu” that reveals an indictment filed by NIA where it stated that the “China-Myanmar module” of NSCN-IM, a Naga outfit that signed on to a framework agreement with the Union government in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015, helped two banned Meitei outfits to enter Manipur provoking ethnic violence and destabilizing the State.
At least 221 people have been killed since this ethnic violence between tribal Kuki-Zo people and majority Meitei community erupted in the State on May 3, 2023.
The group stated that “it is cognizant of Government’s propaganda war against NSCN which has been under cease fire with GoI and had political negotiations for last twenty seven years.”
Indian Security Forces were reportedly giving logistic and other supports to KNA(B) (Kuki National Army-Bangladesh), so as they can attack Meitei revolutionary groups stationed in Myanmar.”
Moreover, it claims, “this includes that they allowed Kuki militant groups operating in Tengnoupal district, Manipur to enter Myanmar and fight alongside them against Meitei revolutionary groups. It is clearly evident that Indian Security Forces are highly unreliable as they use their personnel who are Kukis as front line fighters against Nagas while also providing all logistical support required by these insurgent movements.”
