IRANIAN PRESIDENT EBRAHIM RAISI DIES: INDIAN FLAG AT HALF-MAST
The Indian National flag flew at half-mast on all official buildings to mark national mourning for President Ebrahim Raisi of Iran who died in a helicopter crash on May 20.
As a sign of respect for the fallen Iranian president, the government of India has declared a one-day state mourning to be held on 21st May.
To this effect therefore, the national flag is being flown at half mast on all official buildings and there shall be no official entertainment during this period.
Iranian state media says the country’s Foreign Minister, President and several other officials were found dead after their helicopter crashed yesterday in a foggy mountainous area near its northwestern border with Turkey.
Accordingly, Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi ,the President of Islamic republic of Iran and Hossein Amit Abdollahian,” Ministry of home affairs spokesperson confirmed.
A home ministry spokesperson said “The government of India has decided that there will be one day’s state mourning on May 21 (Tuesday) throughout India as gesture of respect to the late dignitaries.”
The official added: “On this day, there will be no official entertainment while all regular institutions which hoist our flag will fly it at half mast across India.”
