'India, US stronger when working together,' says US secretary of state Antony Blinken

NEW DELHI: US secretary of state Antony Blinken on Tuesday said that India and United States are stronger working together strengthening both the nations. He shared these thoughts after meeting with external affairs minister S Jaishankar during the G7 gathering in Fiuggi, Italy.
Taking to X, Blinken said, “The US and India are stronger when we are working together. Indian external affairs minister Dr S Jaishankar and I met today in Italy to discuss the importance of our continued close cooperation to promote global security and prosperity.”
Following their discussion, Matthew Miller, the State department spokesperson said, “The United States desires to continue coordinating closely with India to address global security challenges.”

The dialogue between Blinken and Jaishankar reinforced both nations’ dedication to enhancing their bilateral relationship, as noted in Miller’s official summary of the meeting.
Blinken in a separate post on X and said, “We are working with our Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific allies to address global security challenges, including PRC and DPRK support for Russia. Together, we’re bolstering a free and open Indo-Pacific across the Taiwan Strait, on the Korean Peninsula, and in the South China Sea.”

Earlier sharing on X, Jaishankar also shared details of their discussion, which encompassed global affairs and the progressive India-US partnership.
The Indian external minister also held key talks with his counterparts from the US, South Korea, Japan, and Italy at the G7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting.
“Pleased to attend the G7 FMM Outreach Session with Indo-Pacific partners today in Fiuggi. Thank FM Antonio Tajani of Italy for the welcome and hospitality. Noted that the Indo-Pacific is experiencing significant changes including new convergences & partnerships as well as anxieties, frictions & stresses. The evolution of Quad has been a notable development and the Indo-Pacific landscape today creates a compelling argument for a wider collaborative approach,” Jaishankar wrote on X.

“Discussed opportunities in technology, innovation, clean energy, fertilizers, railways and investments. Also exchanged perspectives on IMEC, Ukraine and the Indo-Pacific. The recently announced Joint Strategic Action Plan guides our activities. Look forward to welcoming him in India in 2025,” he added.
