Maharashtra will hold elections in 13 Lok Sabha constituencies on May 20; Piyush Goyal, Ujjwal Nikam are contesting from Mumbai
The fifth and final phase of general elections in Maharashtra that includes sixteen parliamentary constituencies among which six are in Mumbai is scheduled for Monday.
In the said seats, more than Two crore forty-six lakh eligible voters will be asked to decide whether 264 people should be allowed to go represent them at the house of representatives. These include Kalyan, Bhiwandi, Dhule, Thane and Palghar, Dindori and Nashik (1).
Other important BJP candidates are Union Ministers Piyush Goyal from Mumbai North while Bharati Pawar will stand from Dindori constituency and Kapil Patil will compete from Bhiwandi.
Shiv Sena’s Shrikant Shinde is running against Varsha Gaikwad of Congress in Kalyan area.
Polling stations shall open at seven o’clock in the morning until six p.m. when they will close.
Mainly there is a contest between opposition alliance of Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and NCP (SP) on one side and ruling Mahayuti with Shiv Sena, BJP and NCP on the other side.
Mumbai Metropolitan Region comprises three districts – Mumbai City/Suburban/Mumbai, Thane and Palghar which take up ten seats out of these thirteen; it is counted among most urbanized areas in India.
All together there are two hundred forty-six million six hundred ninety four thousand five hundred forty four voters out of whom one hundred thirty-one million three hundred eighty thousand five hundred twenty six males one hundred fifteen million two thousand eight hundred women plus two thousand seven hundreds fourth gender individuals. The data analysis indicated that men voter was higher than female counterparts by eleven million eight thousand two hundreds forty eight according to PTI.
