Donald Trump, the former US president and Republican presidential candidate, accepted the GOP nomination on Friday during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The final day of the convention featured his acceptance speech. These are some of his notable quotes from that speech:
Trump pleads for unity
He said during his talk that we must come together as one and reconcile our differences that have over time separated the American people.
“We must heal discord and division in our society. As Americans, we share a common fate and destiny. We rise together. Or we fall separately,” he added.
“ I am running to be all of America’s president , not half of it,” he further added.
Consequently, Trump formally took up a third party nomination for Republican Party’s presidency at this juncture.
God was with me: Trump
“There was such blood spewing everywhere but somehow I felt so safe because God is on my side.” He continued describing what happened to him recently,
“The killer’s bullet would have hit perfectly had I not moved my head just an inch at that last second; I wouldn’t be here talking to you today.”
‘I’m supposed to be somewhere else tonight,’ Trump says before RNC audience
Tonight he told them “I’m not supposed to be here tonight,” adding “I stand here in this stadium by only the grace of almighty God. Many people say it was a providential moment.”
Ex-president knew he faced ‘assault’
“I mean immediately I knew we were under assault but in a way kind of very safe because I had God on my side” He said addressing throngs gathered at Republican National Convention in Milwaukee,
Trump lashes out against immigration
And once again, during his address, Donald Trump touched upon illegal immigration using exactly same buzzwords – which have long been hallmarks of his political career ever since its beginning in 2016 – presenting a bleak picture about an America being overrun by an “invasion” of immigrants.
The issue of immigration has taken center stage at the convention; in fact, some participants were seen holding up signs calling for massive immediate deportations. “We have a tremendous illegal immigration problem going on here right now while we are sitting in this beautiful arena. It is a huge invasion at our southern border that is spreading misery, crime, poverty, disease and destruction all over our country,” Trump said straight out.
‘I won’t say his name ever again’: Trump talks about Joe Biden
He mentioned President Joe Biden by name during his speech as a former president but he promised not to mention him again.
“In the history of the United States there’s never been. If you look at it and take the ten worst presidents in the history of the United States, think of it, the ten worst – add them all together – they will have done nothing compared to what Biden has done,” Trump said during Republican National Convention.
“Just gonna use that word once, Biden , won’t even use it anymore after today.”
