Recently, an American women of twenty-four years old shared a very peculiar story about her travels. The woman who is yet to be identified says that she was permanently banned by the American Airlines from flying due to inappropriate behavior on flight claims she denies.
According to the New York Post, Erin Wright (TikTok username @erin_wright_) posted a video lasting 4 minutes and 47 seconds which went viral and garnered over 2.6 million views. In it, she told how she was prevented from boarding her plane to New Orleans for her sister’s bachelorette party.
“In the clip, I looked at the gate agent who seemed anxious and he whispered ‘Ma’am I’m really sorry but you have been banned from ever flying with American Airlines,’ explained Wright in the clip,” said Wright in regards to what happened. She was surprised by this news because she claimed that she did nothing wrong.
Gate Confusion
Despite her attempts to comprehend why this had happened, the gate agent refused to reveal anything regarding internal security issues. “I didn’t know what was happening; I felt angry and stressed but just wanted my sister’s party,” Wright said. “So, I booked another ticket worth $1000 hoping we would settle everything later,” she said.
Some two weeks after this event occurred, Wright received an email detailing why she could no longer fly with them—alleged sexual activities with a man inside the airplane’s bathroom. This left Ms.Wright dumbfounded since she is a lesbian. “I am homosexual girl aged twenty-four years old. You see me.Am I having sex with any man?” she answered back.
Exoneration
In order to clear her name, Wright composed an email which humorously explained everything about herself while being serious. It took some time but eventually they removed her from their list after receiving emails from both herself and her mother. As for now though nobody knows who these people are.
She did get back to flying again but she had spent an additional $1000 on purchasing another flight. Even though the original ticket was refunded, American Airlines paid no extra money to Wright as compensation.
Media Response
This story from Wright left a lot of social media users in awe and empathy. A few suggested complaints and lawsuits over the airline’s actions. In response, one person commented, “How did they let you book if they banned you?” which confused her just as much.
Financially Positive Result
Notwithstanding the hardship, Wright found something positive from it all.It was not until August 11 that she produced another TikTok video showing that the views earned from her viral video allowed her to recover what she lost. “I made almost exactly how much I lost so American Airlines doesn’t have to fix this,” she said.
According to Wright’s most recent update, there has been no further communication with her from American Airlines, but there were hints about future developments. “I just wanna say thank you guys so much for helping me blow up that video because it took a lot of financial pressure off of me,” she told her followers.
