The BJP plans to use this as more ammunition to attack the Wayanad MP and his party in the Lok Sabha polls, questioning the economic model he promised

congressional leaders Rahul Gandhi Addressing people at the Nyay Manch event on Saturday, he once again advocated redistribution of wealth in proportion to various sections of the Indian population. The BJP is planning to use the incident as more ammunition to attack the Wayanad MP and his party in the Lok Sabha polls, questioning the economic model he has promised.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has warned against Rahul Gandhi’s claims of “wealth redistribution”, even as the Congress party said it was not part of its manifesto. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh told News18 that Gandhi’s model will lead to a financial slowdown.

“How much wealth is in the hands of backwards, poor people from general castes, women… We will determine through economic survey who has how much wealth. Then a new politics will begin. One person will say, if he has 50% Population, but with 2% wealth, he will say he wants 50% wealth… This is our idea.

The Congress leader said that 90 per cent of the country’s people, including Dalits, tribals and backward classes, do not know how much of the population they constitute. “What proportion of India’s wealth is in your hands, you don’t know…how much wealth is in the OBC population? No one knows. We will conduct a caste census and then an economic survey. We will determine who has wealth. Every agency will take it A survey,” Gandhi told a group of young people.

The Congress leader said the caste census will further reveal how many OBCs there are in the media, corporate world, judiciary and armed forces. “Hamare log kahan baithe hain, sab pata chal jayega,” he said.
