On September 2, some task force teams of Telangana’s Commissioner of Food Safety conducted raids at the well-known restaurants of Banjara Hills in Hyderabad and reported many cases of violation of hygiene standards.
At Niloufer Cafe concerned with food safety and hygiene, unopened containers of sugar syrup, and spices and other food items that were assorted were seen in the refrigerator. The doors as well as windows did not have any anti-insect screens or mesh and the raw meat storage refrigerator was noted to be dirtied. The foods in the refrigerator were stored without any labels and a mix of vegetarian and non vegetarian foods was evident. Food colours, in synthetic form, were discovered in the kitchen and thrown out afterward. As reported in a press release, FIFO was not practised in the storeroom and there were dustbins left uncovered in the kitchen.
