On the instructions of Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection (HYDRA) Agency started demolishing illegal structures in Bam Rukn Ud-Dowla lake’s FTL area located in Rajendranagar mandal.
According to our sources, operations commenced on Saturday 10th August 2024.
There was heightened tension in Kings Colony and Shastripuram areas as some VIPs’ residences were demolished.
The heritage lake had been encroached upon and filled for a long time by civic and revenue authorities such that despite the objections of the Irrigation officials and concerned citizens, it has continued to exist under a pretext of High Court judgement which only asked them to follow proper procedure.
