Hyderabad parliamentarian Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday (January 4, 2025) criticised the government’s handling of China, accusing it of being weak and frightened of that country.
Speaking to the media about the reports on China creating new counties in Indian territory, Mr. Owaisi said, “What is this language of lodging strong protests and then inviting them to invest in India? On our land, they are constructing dams and establishing counties,” he said.
Mr. Owaisi criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s gesture of sending a chadar to Muslim shrine while accusing BJP and Sangh Parivar organisations of undermining the legitimacy of Muslim religious sites. “The Prime Minister sent a chadar, but BJP and Sangh Parivar organisations have been moving courts for excavations and questioning the legitimacy of dargahs and masjids. If the PM wanted, this issue would have ended.” Mr. Owaisi said that the gesture (of sending the chadar) indicates that dispensations admit these are Muslim places of worship.
On the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, Mr. Owaisi confirmed that AIMIM is preparing to contest. “We are deciding on how many candidates to field. We will fight the elections wholeheartedly,” he said.
