The year is 2024, and the 17th of September brings with it Ananta Chaturdashi in Hyderabad, as people gather to perform the last worship of lord Ganesh who has been installed for a period of 11 days. There were thousands of people who enunciated ‘Ganapati Bappa Morya’ coordinated and moved on the arterial roads and residential societies, while dancing to drums’ thumping and ‘music’. It was on Sunday night (September 16, 2024) that the processions to take large idols on specially devised transport vehicles began. The clamor of the day centered on the procession of Khairatabad Bada Ganesh or Saptamukha Sree Maha Shakti Ganapati, seven-headed, 70 ft clad in clay, impressive 7 face idol amid temple like structure. Basavanagudi, the other end of the city, Balapur Ganesh procession was hot favorite as it reached to the village square Tornado before the peanut Laddu auction.
In another part of the state, Ganesh hirya jaladarshana, an abode of lord Ganesh and his idols, were still at various stages. The Hussain Sagar Lake has been erected with cranes for the purpose of immersion. The immersion of lesser idols used to take place in smaller ponds and tanks which have been prepared for such activities like the Mir Alam Tank beside the Nehru Zoo.
The number of designated exclusive ponds are 73 and western lakes: five while a total of commissioned immersion cranes stand at 468.
Hyderabad City police have further intensified their arrangement to ensure the celebration takes place without a hitch. The police are also prepared with an extensive security arrangement comprising of increase in number of patrolling, intelligence collection, anti-sabotage checks, and increase in manpower.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy reviewed preparations for the Ganesh idol immersion ‘event’ at the hi – tech Command Control Centre on Monday.
