The Zen Technologies, a company that provides defense training solutions, has handed over an anti-drone system to the Army Air Defense College in Gopalpur, Odisha.
The Hyderabad-based firm said on Friday that its product, the Zen ADS HK (Zen Anti-Drone System with Hard-Kill), is an improvement of its proven soft kill anti-drone systems based on those deployed by Indian Air Force for added protection.
This modernized system seamlessly integrates into existing legacy of defense infrastructure and boasts an in-house developed state-of-the-art electro-optical tracking system (EOTS). EOTS also combines three functions such as day camera, thermal camera and laser range finder (LRF) which are joined for auto-tracking even during adverse weather conditions.
For example, A software interface was designed by engineers from the company who coordinated it with L‐70 Air Defense Gun –an indigenous Anti-Aircraft gun used by India and other countries. This adds versatility to the system whereby it can be integrated with different cueable automatic gun platforms for extensive deployment purposes. According to Zen’s press release, entire development cycle of Zen ADS HK involving design work, prototyping and manufacturing was carried out locally within India itself.
In this regard Zen Technologies commented saying: “This is a major step towards enhancing India’s defence capabilities against drone threats.” It noted further that 18 months ago the Army Air Defence College which trains India’s air defence corps made orders for Zen ADS HK.
They did however manage to produce a better system than expected following conducting rigorous testing and trials due to preliminary successful trials in accurate cueing of the automatic gun platform upon which order was placed. It also underlines compatibility with existing weaponry as well as adaptability with various gun platforms making it more useful for different deployments.
