Kerstin Emhoff’s, the ex-wife of the second gentleman Doug Emhoff, has given a scathing response to recent sexist comments by defending Vice President Kamala Harris. In her view, the criticisms that targeted the inability of Harris to have biological children were “groundless” and she also expressed gratitude for her stepmother in their blended family.
“These are unfounded slurs. For more than a decade now Kamala has been a co-parent with me and Doug since Cole and Ella were teenagers,” commented Emhoff. “She is also loving, nurturing, fiercely protective, and always present. I love our blended family and am grateful to have her in it.”
Emhoff’s statement was prompted by resurfaced comments made by Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance. During an interview with Tucker Carlson this year, Vance condemned several public figures such as Harris, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg as “childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives.”
“You just look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC— the whole future of the Democratic Party is run by nonparents,” noted Vance.
Doug Emhoff fathered two kids namely Cole and Ella with his famous film producer Kerstin Emhoff. Being a stepmother to these kids, Harris is affectionately called “Momala” by them.
