Volvo driver at BMTC in Bengaluru loses control of bus causing pile up on Hebbal flyover
In a serial accident that occurred on Monday (August 12, 2024), when the BMTC Volvo bus lost control and hit a bike rider injuring him and several vehicles before crashing on the Hebbal flyover. The entire episode was captured by the security cameras installed in it.
The accident happened while the bus was headed to HSR Layout from the airport. The driver was bewildered seeing this as well as a conductor who hurriedly rushed to assist him in stopping the bus. The driver has been taken into custody by Hebbal traffic police after clearing the road which had become rowdy with people milling around conducting investigations into what caused the mishap.
Don’t attend my meetings unless held in govt offices: Byndoor MLA tells Udupi DC
According to Byndoor MLA Gururaj Gantihole, Udupi district Deputy Commissioner K. Vidyakumari should first produce for him a rule prohibiting official meetings being convened outside government work places until then he will be holding officials gatherings within his constituency’s different offices too.
On August 12, Mr Gantihole started an indefinite sit-in protest front of Adalita Soudha at Byndoor taluk against a directive given by DC asking public officers not to attend meetings convened by him anywhere outside official structures except government offices. This followed Town Panchayat officers at Byndoor failing to appear for his meeting called at Uppunda on August 12, which is another town next to Byndoor where they were advised not to do so verbally by their boss.
Rangayana has new Director in Mysuru – Satish Tipaturu
Satish Tipaturu ,a theatre director will be heading Rangayana theatre repertory in Mysuru. This is among the appointments for directors of five other theatre repertories in Karnataka that have been made by Minister for Kannada and Culture Shivaraj Tangadagi.
August 14 would be the date of his taking charge. The seat of Rangayana’s director in Mysuru was empty since Congress came into power in Karnataka last year, May 2023. The previous director Addanda Cariappa had quit only after BJP lost the Assembly elections last May.
Six suffer suspected gastroenteritis outbreak at Belagavi district hospital
Six people were admitted to hospitals either at Belagavi or Bailhongal, towns in north Karnataka, complaining of discomfort caused by a strain of water they drunk that could have come from drain water at Chachadi village on August 13. Only six of a total number of forty one patients who complained were taken to hospital.
They displayed symptoms likely to be gastroenteritis . Locals claim they alerted gram panchayat on likelihood of water contamination but their pleas fell on deaf ears.
