Protesters who are writers and activists from different places in this world, demanding that Prajwal Revanna be arrested, staged a demonstration at Hassan on May 18th. The activists have resolved to hold to a protest meeting in Hassan on May 30.
1. ‘Prajwal Revanna assumed that family’s political power would let him get away with anything’
A lot of people in the region, who spoke with The Hindu, claim that being elected at a tender age without going through rigorous political campaigns and thereby enjoying unlimited access to power made Prajwal Revanna engage in crimes he is currently accused of.
The young parliamentarian did hardly anything expected of an elected representative by residents who have followed the political careers of H.D. Deve Gowda’s family members for decades say activists, party workers, writers and ordinary citizens. He never showed interest in on-going infrastructure projects or development work in the constituency, they say.
2. BIAL waives vehicle entry fee at KIA Bengaluru temporarily
Backlash from taxi owners and travelers has forced Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) to drop its decision to impose parking charges on all private and commercial vehicles arriving at Kempe Gowda International Airport (KIA) in Bangalore. According to sources at BIAL, the parking fee has been removed but it is only temporary.
On May 20th, when drivers of taxis and acquaintances of passengers headed towards passenger terminals saw a weighty ‘stay and overstay charge’ affixed on arrival lounge doors at KIA, they were surprised. The fee was introduced without any prior notice on May 20th.
3. Zipline Breaks Killing Nurse at Jungle Trailz Resort Ramanagara-Barred from Doing Any Business Again
Following the death of a 35-year-old nurse due to her accident while ziplining across Jungle Trailz resort on May 18th ,the district administration of Ramanagara suspended operations at this resort from lack of safety measures . Based on a complaint , Harohalli police charged them under provisions Sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting murder) and also 337 (endangering lives safety others).
Victim Ranjini ,a nurse at a private hospital, had gone to the resort located in Harohalli village of Ramanagara district along with her colleagues. Zipline cable broke and she together with three others fell down . Injured ones were taken to Dayanand Sagar Hospital where doctors declared Ranjini as brought dead.
4. Karnataka Agriculture Department sets sowing target of 4.02 lakh hectares for kharif season in Yadgir district
K.H. Ravi, Joint Director of the Agriculture Department, said that there is a target of 4,02,676 hectares planted this year in Yadgir district during Kharif season by the Agriculture Department.
On these 402676 hectares cotton will occupy 186297 ha followed by paddy occupying1014060ha redgram=84500ha greengram =18694ha bajra=7275ha
5. Bengaluru prison inmate attacked by group in barrack using rim of calendar
A group of seven inmates attacked a 33-year-old prisoner on Thursday, May 16th with part of a circle from a calendar inside barrack number four while prison officials looked on leaving severe injuries on him in Parappana Agrahara Prison in Bengaluru.
It happened when prison wardens were swapping prisoners from one block to another for normal rearrangement. The prisoner was hurt in the forehead, back and neck and is presently being treated at Victoria hospital.
