Kempe Gowda Jayanthi: Vokkaliga seer publicly asks Siddaramaiah to give up CM’s post to D.K. Shivakumar
The continuing pressure for several posts of Deputy Chief Ministers, described by critics as an attempt to clip the wings of incumbent Dy.CM D.K. Shivakumar, took a new twist on June 27 with Vishwa Vokkaligara Mahasamsthana Mutt seer Chandrashekhara swami openly urging Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to resign in favour of Mr. Shivakumar.
In fact, the seer made his comment while sitting amidst both men in the presence of both the chief minister and his deputy during a function in Bengaluru’s Palace Grounds which marked the 515th birth anniversary of the city founder Kempe Gowda. But neither Mr. Siddaramaiah nor Mr. Shivakumar responded to what the seer said at that time; rather, the former said that only Congress high command would decide such matters.
